The real practice run

Today I got the inspiration to go out to one of my favourite waterfalls and film the journey there. In a sense it was to be a practice run, because I don’t have much experience with this, but I thought to make it the best practice run, it’s probably best just to try and do it properly.

So I tried doing that. I brought my gimbal and my camera, and started filming on the way there. Then about five minutes in, my gimbal battery cut out. Just five minutes! It turned out I hadn’t charged it enough, which was strange because I had put it on for at least a few hours.

When I got home I realised that I had done all the right things, except the plug I used was one that sometimes doesn’t work, for whatever reason. I tried charging the gimbal in the same way, and it didn’t work. Tried one of the other plugs, and it worked fine. So my attempt at filming my trip had indeed become a practice run by the end.

I still filmed some things, so if they’re any good I’ll be sharing them, but it goes to show you have to be sure that your gear is in order before you leave, and you have to make sure everything charged fine!
