Anything worth doing, is worth doing right. Anything worth doing, is worth starting right.

I always start my swims the same. A 400m medley, 100m of each stroke. This means we’re starting out with 100m of butterfly, arguably the most demanding, but also power-endearing stroke of the four main strokes.

This is setting off with a bang. This is getting started in the right way, with the right attitude and mindset.

This is because, swimming is not an easy thing. Or at least, not how I swim. I like to push myself, and I like to take things very seriously, starting off with how I start off. This sets the tone for the rest of the swim, and guarantees a good start.
